Reports have indicated that a Ghana International Airlines (GIA) flight from Accra to London, yesterday, made an emergency landing in Spain.
The pilot was forced to make emergency landing after the loss of an engine from the aircraft.
In a related development, the Chief Executive Officer of GIA, Captain Joe Boachie, denied that the aircraft lease agreement between the airline and its leasing company had ended last week. He said it was therefore not true that the airline’s services could also be terminated. He said the only development concerning the airline was that its regular aircraft, which belonged to the leasing company, was undergoing routine maintenance.
He noted another aircraft, which had been provided by the same leasing company, was ferrying passengers. He said there was thus nothing to worry about and that the airline was in good terms with its leasing company.
